HOW OUR CATCHER WORKS

The flies movement around our catcher

is the same as if they are flying around

you or your animal(s). They do not see the clear

shield and hit it. They then fall into the basin;

which is filled with water and Dawn Dish soap

(or equivalent). The soap coats their wings and they cannot fly out

of the water. Breaking the cycle.

Yes, it is this

easy and simple.

FINDING THE FLYING PATTERN IS KEY.

HOW CAN YOU PREDICT THE FLYING PATTERN OF THE HORSEFLY?

1. HORSEFLY’S LIVE IN THE TREES AT NIGHT SO YOU COULD PLACE THE CATCHER BETWEEN THE HORSES AND THE TREES.

2.  YOU COULD ALSO PLACE THE CATCHER BETWEEN YOUR HORSES AND A WATER SOURCE LIKE A POND, A CREEK, A LAKE, OR EVEN SWAMPY AREAS, BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THEY LAY THEIR EGGS.

3.  EVEN THOUGH YOU PLACED THE CATCHER BETWEEN YOUR HORSES AND THE TREES OR THE WATER SOURCE AND YOUR HORSES, YOU MAY STILL HAVE TO TURN YOUR CATCHER A QUARTER OF A TURN. MEANING, IT WOULD FACE NORTH AND SOUTH OR EAST AND WEST.

4.  ALSO YOU MAY HAVE TO MOVE THE CATCHER 5‘, 10‘, OR 20‘ IN ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER.  I HAVE FOUND THAT I CATCH MORE HORSEFLIES IN THE TREES ON A PATH TO MY POND IN THE EARLY SPRING AND THEN I CATCH MORE IN THE LATTER PART OF SUMMER OUT IN THE OPEN ON A HILL.

EVERY FARM IS DIFFERENT SO A LITTLE BIT OF  EXPERIMENTING WHERE TO PLACE IT MIGHT HAVE TO BE DONE IN THE FIRST WEEK OR SO OF SETTING UP YOUR HORSEFLY CATCHER AND THEN YOU MIGHT CATCH HORSEFLIES IN THE FIRST PLACE YOU PUT IT. ALSO, WHEN THE NUMBERS START SLOWING DOWN, MOVE IT BECAUSE THEIR FLYING PATTERN CHANGED.  WHEN YOU NEED TO CLEAN IT OR JUST ADD WATER WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO MOVE IT.
